About Us

Do you know where your food comes from?

By shopping at our Market Stand, you will always know where and how your food is grown. You will know your farmers. We can share a favorite way to prepare a recipe. You can ask us questions and provide feedback.

Young Earth Farm is located in the expansive farm country of Southeastern Wisconsin, about 40 miles Northeast of Madison, Wisconsin. Young Earth Farm specializes in a wide variety of delicious, clean and carefully packed organic produce. We offer our produce at the Dane County Farmers’ market.

Since 2005, our family has grown food in the tradition of sustainable, environmentally sound and small-scale farming practices. Your Farmer, Shirley Young, established Young Earth Farm with her former partner in good conscience to provide delicious, healthy, locally produced, GMO-free vegetables without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Young Earth Farm is USDA certified organic through MOSA (Midwest Organic  Services Agency, see  We take great pride in growing certified organic produce with care in order to protect our planet and it’s precious natural resources. As always, we use no synthetic chemicals and only natural means of nourishing our soil. We include cover crops and plant rotation in our field planning. As farmers we accept our responsibility to our customers and to future generations to provide food for the community while caring for the Earth. This tradition enhances the flavor of the many vegetables that we grow for you.  At Young Earth Farm we take extreme care of the produce we grow for you, from seed to market. Your vegetables will arrive in your kitchen looking, smelling, and tasting wonderful. Our post-harvest handling practices assure that your produce will last for days and sometimes weeks after you get it home. We handle the produce “like eggs” from the time we harvest from the plants until the item goes into your basket at market, to avoid bruising for better quality. We package items that benefit from being wrapped to hold in moisture during travels to market, again to assure quality.
