Treat your sweet to some sweets

You can find a whole lot of delectable sweet treats from our bakers (and confectioners) at market this time of year!

Fill a box with melt-in-your-mouth truffles and peanut butter cups from Jeff Ford of Cress Spring Bakery. (We're particularly smitten by the hazelnut truffles and orange spice truffles.)

Or pick up an array of biscotti from Joe & Ruby Cabibbo of Cabibbo's Bakery.  Brew a pot of coffee, share some biscotti, and cuddle up with someone you love on a snowy afternoon!

Heat up your sweets-giving game with some spicy honey or spicy toffee from Ted and Joan Ballweg of Savory Accents.

Pamper that someone special (which could be you!)

Add sweet-smelling soaps from Sylvan Meadows Farm to a gift bag or basket full of other pamper-yourself treats like tea, a local honey bear, and a pair of beeswax votive candles from Marsdens' Pure Honey.

Cook for your favorite person

Is there anything as gratifying as cooking a yummy meal and sharing it with someone you love? Even better if you can cook it together! Here are some our favorite meal ideas – inspired by local market finds:

Make some waffles or pancakes (with the help of flour mixes from Hickory Hill Farm) and serve with warmed Wisconsin maple syrup (find jars of maple syrup in an array of sizes at McCluskey Brothers).

Is it just us or is pasta the most romantic food? Use frost-sweetened spinach from Snug Haven Farm, garlic, and fresh market parmesan from Capri Cheese in this spinach pesto pasta recipe. Or cook up classic spaghetti and meatballs using grass-fed ground beef from Gitto Farm n Kitchen!

For a simple but show-stopping meal, roast a whole chicken with lemon and rosemary and serve with roasted potatoes.

Dessert time!

Want to finish dinner on a sweet note?  For a simple dessert, drizzle some fresh Wisconsin jam or warmed honey over ice cream. (Sutter's Ridge Triple Berry Preserves would be perfect with some vanilla ice cream.)

Feeling a bit more adventurous? Use Wisconsin maple syrup in a creamy creme brulee custard. Or savor the abundance of local apples still at market by featuring them in this apple cheesecake for two. Select your apples from Ela Orchard and Pleasant Springs Orchard at market.
