Sweet as Honey

National Honey Bee Day is August 18th! Celebrate the honey bee and our bee keepers with a visit to market. You can grab an array of honey products from honey sticks for the kids to jars of honey for your pantry, from beeswax to candles, and from pollen to honey comb!  Here are some of our favorite ways to savor local sweet honey with other market finds.

Local honey is a perfect sweet accompaniment to crunchy crackers and local cheeses. Particularly honey goes well with tangy cheddars, nutty hard cheeses like parmesan, and creamy fresh cheese like feta. Want to make a meal out of it?  Make this mixed green salad with blue cheese and a honey balsamic dressing.

Mornings can be hectic - these honey and olive oil zucchini muffins make breakfast choices easy!  Or make some overnight oats and sprinkle with local blackberries and a drizzle of honey.

Honey doesn't have to be limited to morning or snack time, how about marinating chicken or tofu in this honey barbecue sauce?  Or serve these easy honey-roasted carrots as a side dish.

Say hello to a local beekeeper and treat yourself to some sweet honey!
